FakeMRR

About this app

FakeMRR is a parody of TrustMRR, the database of verified startup revenues. Here nothing is verified. You enter a startup name, a logo, a founder handle and the revenue you wish you had, and FakeMRR draws the stat cards and the chart to match. It’s for indie hackers who have seen one revenue screenshot too many, and for anyone who wants to post one anyway.

The editor previews the page as you type. You pick a timeframe from the last 24 hours to all time, a linear, logarithmic, exponential or flat curve, and how much noise to add so the line looks real. Every startup gets its own public page with a link to your site. One credit downloads a zip of 18 screenshots: the full page at four widths in light and dark, plus each card on its own.

How we built it

The problem

Revenue screenshots are a genre of their own on social media: a logo, a big MRR number and a chart that only goes up. TrustMRR made them checkable by reading revenue straight from payment providers such as Stripe. We wanted to poke fun at the genre, and the joke only works if the fake looks like the real thing, down to the country flag, the follower count and the wobble in the line.

What we shipped

The first commit landed on 7 November 2025 with the editor and the startup page. A week later came Stripe checkout and downloadable screenshots. FakeMRR got its own domain, fakemrr.app, on 5 December, and launched on Product Hunt on 6 January 2026, where it finished #5 Product of the Day.

Pricing is pay as you go, with no subscription: 5 credits for €1, 20 for €2.90 or 500 for €7.90. Creating and sharing a page costs nothing. You can start as a guest and sign in with Google later without losing your pages.

Under the hood

The front end is Next.js with Tailwind CSS and daisyUI, and Recharts draws the chart. The generator builds the revenue series itself, shaped into the curve you pick and nudged by an amount of randomness you control, so no two charts look alike.

Screenshots were the hard part. Every page is rendered on our servers in light and dark mode, at four widths, plus each card on its own, and delivered as one download. Payments go through Stripe Checkout, and a credit is only spent once your download is ready, so a failed render costs nothing.
